Knowledge of German Language area 3300-KNOJ-MSF-2-Z
Landeskunde is an introduction to the culture of the German-speaking world. In the seminar, we deal with the regional cultural differences in Germany, analyze selected historical events that have shaped “being German” today and learn about the peculiarities of the German political system.
Sahne, Rahm und Obers - why 'cream' has different names in Switzerland, Austria and Germany? What is meant by the terms Eidgenosse, Berliner Schnauze and Wiener Blond?
The course builds a cultural dictionary of the German-speaking area; shows how to use proper names; and presents geography and regional traditions of German speaking area.
The teaching material comprises short texts, films and music pieces.
All materials and texts will be given in class and uploaded to classroom platform for the group.

K_W08 The student has the knowledge and understanding of the mulifaceted relations of literature and cultural texts to historic and cutural processes.
K_W09 The student has the advanced knowledge and understanding of German history, and important aspects and features of German culture, including geography, politics, and civics.
K_U02 The student can apply basic research skills in accordance with the scientific code of ethics and copyright law; these skills include identifying and analysing the problem, choosing adequate methodology and research tools, analysing and presenting results, all of which pertain to scientific disciplines present at foreign language and culture studies.
K_U03 The student can recognise, analyse, and interpret various types of texts related to German culture; can anchor them in the general historic-cultural context; can conduct their analysis with specialist terminology and adequate methods.
K_U12 The student can cooperate in a team work, including the multicultural environment.
K_K01 The student is ready to self-evalute the knowledge and skills critically.
K_K02 The student is ready to participate in the german and Polish culture by means of various forms and channels.
