The aim of the seminar “News from the Spanish-speaking world” is to familiarize participants with current socio-cultural and political-economic events in the Spanish-speaking world. At the same time, topics are covered that enable students to assess the influence of the media on the social sphere. Spanish language skills are improved by learning new, specialized vocabulary based on original press, audio or audiovisual material.
The thematic and geographical scope requires an interdisciplinary approach that takes into account ontological pluralism and epistemological diversity. As the name of the course suggests, the basic sources of information are the mass media in the broadest sense.
