News from Spanish language area 3300-AHOJ-MSF-4-Z
The aim of the seminar “News from the Spanish-speaking world” is to familiarise participants with current socio-cultural and political-economic events in the Spanish-speaking world. At the same time, such topics are covered that enable students to assess the influence of the media on the social sphere. Spanish language skills are improved by learning new, specialised vocabulary based on original press, audio or audiovisual material.
The thematic and geographical scope requires an interdisciplinary approach that takes into account ontological pluralism and epistemological diversity. As the name of the course suggests, the basic sources of information are the mass media in the broadest sense.
The courses are in an overview mode and are intended to provide a basis for the recognition and initial analysis of the latest events from the world of cultures of the Spanish-speaking regions. They are intended for students who plan to research these topics or who wish to expand their knowledge.
The lessons are based on individual and team work, and consist of the following points.
1. search and elaboration of information;
2. analysis and interpretation of primary and secondary sources, including informational texts, audiovisual material and scientific studies;
3. presentation of the results of the work.
