(in Polish) Przedmiot fakultatywny: warsztat badacza ESW 3224-PRZEDF93
The aim of the course is to prepare ESW cultural studies students
to carry out in-depth cultural research projects
using modern technologies
for the purposes of applying for doctoral studies. The course
will cover in-depth assumptions of the ‘workshop’ of writing a
scientific paper, both in terms of content and editing, which is to help
in presenting academic written statements and
developing key skills for the quality of academic dialogue
as preparation for undertaking third-cycle studies.
The course covers:
− analysis and verification of the assumptions of a research project,
− selection of research methods and techniques to implement the assumptions
of a research project,
− selection and determination of the use of subject literature or
other sources,
− development of the content of a research project in accordance with
the topic specified in the title,
− refinement of the scientific editing of the project text
(text structure, thesis, logic of argumentation),
− preparation of auxiliary apparatus (table of contents,
footnotes, bibliography, illustrative and appendix material, etc.),
− group discussions and consultations with course instructors.

analyse and use the information they need from

translation techniques in Polish and a foreign language on topics
related to cultural studies, literary studies, linguistics and
history concerning the countries of the region (K_U07, K_U09)
- be able to develop their research skills,
independently acquire theoretical and practical knowledge and
present it to the group, referring to it with the
use of modern communication and information technology

- is ready to critically evaluate their knowledge, continuously
improve their skills and supplement their acquired knowledge (K_K01)
- is ready to participate in cultural life and
take advantage of its various forms, as well as work
in a group to cope with various

Assessment criteria
The course is a seminar.
In addition to ongoing preparation for the course, a presentation of a cultural research project is planned.
Passing the course requires mandatory attendance in accordance with the Detailed Rules for Studying at the Faculty of Applied Linguistics (Resolution No. 114 of the Faculty Council of Applied Linguistics of December 19, 2017).
The final grade for the course consists of:
- substantive answers to questions during the course based on the material (30%)
- presentation of the cultural research project (70%)
