The history of the culture of the countries of the region after 1918 (II) - Russia 3224-D2HISROS
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the main problems of the history of Russian culture in the context of political and social history from 1918 to the present day. It will take into account such problems as the interaction of cultures, national and state ideologies, social movements, mentality, changes in mentality, cultural changes and discussion on the meaning of national history. The student develops his/her research skills, learns to gain knowledge on his/her own, using the support of a research tutor.

Assessment criteria
The condition for admission to the exam: attendance (in accordance with the Study Regulations at the University of Warsaw). The student has the right to 2 unexcused absences, each subsequent one requires a justification. The lecturer decides whether to accept the excuse. Exceeding excused and unjustified absences for 50% of classes may be the basis for failing the course. If the number of absences exceeds the permissible number, the student should ask the lecturer to determine the form of crediting the material from the classes.
Unauthorized absences from the classes within the prescribed period shall result in the loss of the first credit date. The student has the right to make up for absences and take the exam on the re-sit date.
Classes will be conducted in the form of a discussion on the assigned readings or material presented by the teacher in the form of a presentation. Active participation in the discussion means participation in the discussion during at least 50% of the classes.
There will also be a written work (3-6 pp.) or a presentation on a topic assigned by the teacher. The deadline for submitting a written work is the date set by the teacher during the first or second class. People absent from these classes are required to obtain information from the teacher who teaches them.
The exam will be oral. It will cover the knowledge of the material discussed in class during the semester and one book selected by the student from the list of literature provided (does not apply to books marked as general textbooks). The exam will consist of three questions - two randomly selected from the material discussed in class, one of the selected reading material.
The final mark comprises the following elements:
Active and substantive participation in classes (20%).
Written work or presentation on a topic designated by the teacher (20%).
Oral exam consisting of three questions (60%)
(complete answer to the question = 20%, partial = 10%)

50% -60% - 3
61% -70% - 3+
71% -80% - 4
81% -90% - 4+
91% -100% - 5
