he course focuses on cultural history of Czech and Slovak lands in the context of political and social development, including topics such as mutual influence of cultures, national and state ideologies, social movements, changes in mentality and discussion about the sense of national history.

Student workload includes:

Knowledge: upon completing the course, the graduate will know and understand:
-at an advanced level the history and present of Bohemian lands and Slovakia as well as historical issues, concepts and concepts related to Bohemian lands and Slovakia, with particular emphasis on cultural processes and phenomena in the context of social and political changes (K_W04)
-at an advanced level the European and global context of cultural processes in Bohemian lands and Slovakia – is able to apply this knowledge in relation to culture, art, literature, as well as political, social and economic processes at every stage of their development (K_W05)
-at an advanced level issues related to the development of national, religious, socio-political and economic relations, including the creation and development of various forms of individual entrepreneurship in Bohemian lands and Slovakia (K_W06).
Skills: upon completing the course, the graduate is able to:
-search, select, analyze and use the information he needs from various sources (K_U01)
-conduct a critical analysis of cultural products specific to a given era in the development of Bohemian lands and Slovakia; recognize different types of Czech and Slovak cultural products, analyze them, distinguish different perspectives on cultural development, being aware of the existence of differences in cultural identity and context (K_U05)
Social competences: upon completing the course, the graduate is prepared to:
-critical evaluation of acquired knowledge, continuous training and supplementation of acquired knowledge (K_K01)
-communicate effectively and live in society, including in a society culturally different from one's own, work in a group, cope with typical professional situations, verify one's views through substantive discussion and assess one's knowledge (K_K02)
-participating in cultural life, taking advantage of its various forms, as well as initiating activities in society and presenting tasks in an accessible form (K_K05).
Assessment criteria
I. The organization of classes:
1) Attendance at all classes, covered by the plan, shall be compulsory.
2) It is not possible to have a resit if the reason of failing the credit was noncompliance with the requirement to participate in them. In such a case a student can be conditionally registered in an successive stage of study and can repeat the failed course.
3) In case of 30 hours in semester, 2 absences without justifying are acceptable. Missed classes must be made up in accordance with the requirements of the lecturer. The requirements are provided by the lecturer during the first class.
Courses will consist of discussion about scheduled literature or material presented by tutor in form of presentation. Active participation in discussion means that student contributes to discussion during at least 50% classes.
Student will also write one paper (3-6 pages) or presentation about topic delimited by tutor.
Oral examination will contain two questions about material presented during course.
II. Assessment Criteria
The final grade is composed of:
Factual participation in discussion during course (20%).
Written paper or presentation about topic delimited by tutor (20%).
Oral examination containing two questions (60%).
(comprehensive answer to one question = 30%, partial answer to one question = 15%).

50%-60% - 3
61%-70% - 3+
71%-80% - 4
81%-90% - 4+
91%-100% - 5
