The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the main problems of the history of culture in Belarus and Lithuania, taking into account Belarusian-Polish and Lithuanian-Polish cultural ties against the background of political and social history from the Middle Ages of the region to 1991. Issues such as identity, mutual influence of cultures, religious aspects, changes in customs and mentality, and reflection on the meaning of the history of nations will be taken into account. The student develops his/her research skills, learns to acquire knowledge independently, using the support of a research supervisor. The following problems will be discussed: |

2) knows and understands at a basic level the issues related to the formation of national and religious, socio-political and economic relations in Poland, Belarus and Lithuania until 1991 (K1_W06; Reference to P6S_WG Scope and depth, P6S_WK Context/conditions, effects)

Assessment criteria
The condition for admission to the course is mandatory attendance at classes in accordance with the Detailed Rules of Study at the Faculty of Applied Linguistics (resolution no. 114 of the Faculty Council of LS of 19.12.2017). Two unjustified absences are allowed.
Classes will be conducted in the form of discussions on assigned readings or material presented by the instructor in the form of a presentation. Substantive participation in the discussion means substantive participation in the discussion during at least 50% of the classes.
A written paper (3-6 s.) or a presentation on a topic assigned by the instructor is also planned. The final deadline for submitting the written paper is the date set by the instructor during the first or second class. Persons absent from these classes are obliged to seek information from the instructor.
The oral exam will cover knowledge from the material discussed in class during the semester and will include two randomly selected questions from the material discussed in class. The final grade consists of:
Substantive participation in classes (20%).
Written work or presentation on a topic assigned by the instructor (20%).
Oral exam (60%).
(exhaustive answer to the question = 30%, partial = 15%)
