Audiovisual translations (Russian) 3223-Z2TAR-TS
The aim of this course is to improve translation competence in the field of audiovisual translation as an activity carried out in a specific variant of the translation system, in which communication between the sender(s) of the initial and the translator(s) takes place in two channels (audio and visual), and between the translator and the final recipient(s) in one visual (subtitles) or audio (dubbing, lector).

Learning outcomes
KNOWLEDGE:
The student systematizes specialized terminology used in texts and statements on general and specialized topics.
The student has an orderly knowledge of translatology, enabling him/her to prepare for audiovisual translation of recordings and oral statements, as well as texts on various topics.
The student has detailed knowledge necessary for professional analysis and interpretation of recordings and statements representing various registers and functional styles of Russian and Polish.
Students will gain in-depth knowledge of the complex nature of the language, its complexity and the context-dependent changeability of its meanings.
The student has an in-depth knowledge of translatological practice, enabling translation of various types of written and oral statements.
SKILLS:
The student is able to apply the knowledge of translatology in practice. After completion of the course, the student is able to apply techniques supporting the process of audiovisual translation. They will also be able to translate statements and texts on general and specialist topics.
Students will be able to apply a comprehensive knowledge of the nature of language, its complexity and the changeability of its meanings in translation, depending on the context.
SOCIAL COMPETENCES:
The student understands the need for lifelong learning.
The student correctly identifies and resolves dilemmas related to the audiovisual translation profession.

- activity during classes;
- homework;
- texts to be translated into grades.
- semester colloquium;
- other tasks improving the translator's skills;
Credits for a course component are based on the following conditions:
- Continuous assessment from classes: 50%
- evaluation of the work for evaluation: 50%.
Accepted scoring principles for current evaluation (in % is expressed as the degree of implementation of requirements):
The assessment includes lexical, grammatical, syntactic, stylistic and punctuation of the translation texts, as well as substantive verification of the content prepared by students.
- over 90% - 5 (very high adequacy of the text, proper stylistic and functional level, few errors of a non-substantive nature, high correct creativity in adjusting the text structures of the language 1. to the realities and rules of the language 2.).
- • 85%-89% – 4+
- • 80%-84% – 4
- • 70%-79% – 3+
- 60%-69% - 3 (maintained adequacy of the text, stylistic level of tolerance of the potential recipient; preservation of the general meaning of the text despite the occurrence of lexical-grammatical errors, 1-2 meaningful errors of a substantive nature, punctuation errors in the amount that allows the translated text to be understood)
The rules of cooperation between teachers and students:
- absences - permissible 3 unjustified absences in a semester (this is in accordance with the Regulations of the University of Warsaw).
- The condition for passing the course is the delivery of translated texts within the specified deadlines.
