Master’s Seminar 3223-AMMS-MS-2
In the first semester, students consolidate and systematise their knowledge in the field of writing scientific papers, and select a research topic, prepare a brief presentation of the project and an outline and the first chapter of the work. In the second semester, students continue to write their Master’s thesis under the supervision of their advisor. The seminar programme covers issues concerning the interests of students who have chosen the area of multilingualism and multilingual education and delineates the boundaries of their research area. The supervisor helps in selecting the topic, sources and methodology. Each time a chapter has been written, it is instantly evaluated by the supervisor.
The aim of the course is also to develop students' research passion by making hypotheses, writing research questions, presenting arguments and counterarguments about their own work, as well as the work of colleagues from the group.
Students are encouraged to conduct linguistic research and familiarise themselves with the literature of the subject in order to deepen their knowledge in their chosen linguistic context.

Skills: the graduate is able to:
-prepare written works in the field of multilingualism and multiculturalism in English (including works bearing the features of a scientific text)

-recognize different genres of texts and conduct their in-depth analysis and interpretation using various methods
-argue substantively using the views of other authors and formulate conclusions
-integrate knowledge relevant to multilingualism and multiculturalism
Social competences: the graduate is ready to:
-adequately address professional challenges, both individual and team, in the field of multilingualism and multiculturalism
-permanent and active participation in scientific life using traditional and modern forms and media
-recognise the principles of research ethics and to respect all participants in the research process
Assessment criteria
Students get a credit based on the assessment of the presented chapters / subsections. The compliance of the work with the technical and content requirements of Master's thesis, the sense of the conducted study, the consistency of the text and its grammatical and stylistic elements are taken into account. To get the final credit, a student needs to submit the whole work.
