Specialized translation: Russian and Italian 3223-2UTSRW
Classes are devoted to translating general and specialized texts from Russian into Italian. The aim of the course is to acquaint students with a range of translation techniques that improve the translator’s competence. Workshops also include transcription and transliteration rules and form the ability to use different kinds of dictionaries and online resources. In addition, they include practical exercises in translation of vocabulary and phraseology, synonyms and opposites.

Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student:
- will be able to apply the appropriate translation strategies and techniques;
- will be able to find the right sources to prepare in advance for translation;
- will understand specialized articles and know the appropriate vocabulary, grammatical structures and text editing methods in terms of style;
- will be able to translate written texts of different sorts.
Assessment criteria
Completion of the course the student obtaines on the basis of:
- presence monitoring, attendance is mandatory, two unexcused absences allowed in a semester;
- control of the current preparation;
- translation exams;
- control tests
