Master seminar IV 3222-54INT4S-N
The seminar discusses issues related to the origin of the Ukrainian language and other Slavic languages. The structure of language, as well as linguistic units and levels, are examined. Part of the course is devoted to linguistic universals, paradigms, and syntagms in linguistics.
Mastering linguistic methods and approaches helps students understand the relationships that occur between elements and levels of the language system as an ordered structure. Course topics include, among others, typological and contrastive linguistics, the etymology of the Ukrainian language, selected issues in lexicology, Ukrainian phraseology, and formal-structural, communicative, and semantic syntax.
Student workload:
30 hours of classroom seminar – 1 ECTS
90 hours of research – 3 ECTS
90 hours of literature analysis, preparation of a thesis plan – 3 ECTS
180 hours of writing the thesis – 6 ECTS
60 hours of preparation for the thesis defense – 2 ECTS
Total: 15 ECTS
If it is not possible to conduct classes in a stationary (in-person) form, classes will be held using communication tools, most likely Google Meet and other platforms recommended by the University of Warsaw.
