Specialized Literary Seminar II - Literature and Culture of Ukrainian Emigration 3222-52LKE2K-N
The course will focus on the history of the Ukrainian diaspora, from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries to the contemporary emigration process resulting from Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
The starting point will be the definition and theory of migration processes viewed from a sociological perspective, taking into account current migration trends. This course will then discuss the directions of Ukrainian migration over the centuries, its phases, its political, social, and cultural determinants, and its organizational activities. Particular emphasis will be placed on the cultural and literary activity of the Ukrainian diaspora in Poland during the interwar period and in Germany, USA and Canada after World War II.
Student workload:

The student has a thorough knowledge and understanding of key issues related to the development of contemporary Ukrainian literature and culture (K1_W08, K1_W09).
The student is able to apply appropriate research methods and tools in the field of Ukrainian literary studies and Ukrainian cultural studies (K1_U05, K1_U06).
The student is ready to critically evaluate their knowledge and the content they receive (K1_K01).
Assessment criteria
Requirements for passing the course and qualifying for the final exam:
- attendance (three unexcused absences permitted)
- ongoing preparation assessment
- passing partial assessment tests
Graded exams conclude with a WRITTEN exam.
Percentage thresholds:
99-100% - 5! (very good grade with an exclamation mark)
93-98% - 5 (very good grade)
87-92% - 4+ (good plus grade)
77-86% - 4 (good grade)
70-76% - 3+ (satisfactory plus grade)
60-69% - 3 (satisfactory grade)
