Ukrainian culture at the time of independence 3222-50UKN1K-N
The aim of the coursee is to consider the main questions of the culture theory, finding out of basic approaches to determination of contemporary Ukrainian culture as a complicated socially-historical phenomenon, studies of the Ukrainian culture development of the Independence period. The discipline emphasizes the most important moments of culture historical development and the most outstanding challenges of the culture in its connections with the world sociopolitical conditions as well as considering of the crucial advancement of the Ukrainian nation’s culture, disclosure of the vital events and phenomena of the national and world culture in their unlikeness and comparison, analysis of the activity of the great persons of the cultural process.

Learning outcomes
Competencies and learning outcomes:
- ability to make semantic generalizations and conclusions about the essence, nature and genesis of cultural phenomena, be able to analyze and generalize it;
- to illustrate the relationship between statehood and the development of national culture;
- to assimilate the theoretical and methodological basis of the discipline;
- to search and accumulate information on historical and cultural issues;
- to review primary sources and scientific publications on contemporary Ukrainian Culture;
- to argue the peculiarities of historical and cultural periods of Ukraine in the European context.
Assessment criteria
The grade for the classes will be given taking into account the following elements:
- activities during classes – 70%
- final test – 30%
The subject ends with a grade, where the evaluation criteria are presented in the form of percentage thresholds.
Scoring and grades for tests and assessments:
60% – 68% - 3 (satisfactory)
69% - 77% - 3+ (satisfactory plus)
78% - 86% - 4 (good rating)
87% - 95% - 4+ (good plus rating)
96% - 98% - 5 (very good rating)
99% -100% - 5 !(very good rating with an exclamation mark)
Condition for passing the course/admission to the exam: admission to the exam (in accordance with the Regulations of Studies at the University of Warsaw).
The student is allowed to have up to 3 unexplained absences, each additional absence requires retaking. The lecturer decides whether to recognize an absence.
The form of obtaining credit for classes from which the student was absent is determined by the lecturer.
Exceeding 50% of justified and unexcused absences from classes may result in failing the course.
