Comparative Ukrainian-European literature 3222-50LPUE2K-N
The classes will discuss the main stylistic, genre and thematic trends in the development of Ukrainian literature of the 19th-21st centuries in comparison with the corresponding trends in the development of European literature. It is planned to compare both the general historical and literary process and the parallel consideration of specific literary works that have a distinct national specificity. Attention will be paid to the comparison with the works of European literature of the texts of T. Shevchenko, Lesya Ukrainka, O. Kobylyanska, Ukrainian avant-garde writers of the 1920s, the work of “the sixtiers”, and the features of the development of Ukrainian postmodernism.

Knows and understands

- K_U02 properly select sources and information derived from them, creatively interpret and present information from the field of Ukrainian literature.
- K_U05 use appropriate methods and research tools in the field of Ukrainian literary studies.
- K_U08 formulate and test hypotheses related to research in the field of Ukrainian literary studies.
- K_U10 communicate on specialist topics with diverse audiences.
- K_U11 conduct a debate on specialist topics.
- K_U14 independently plan and implement their own lifelong learning.
Social competences: the graduate is ready to:
- K_K01 critically evaluate the knowledge they possess and the content they receive.
- K_K03 responsibly perform professional roles, taking into account changing social needs, taking care of the development and preservation of the ethos of the profession.

Conditions for passing the course and being admitted to the final written exam in the form of a test::
- attendance at classes;
- control of current preparation;
- passing control tests and translation tests;
- passing group and individual projects.
Assessment criteria are presented in the form of percentage thresholds (point conversion):
99-100% - 5 ! (very good grade with an exclamation mark)
93- 98 % - 5 (very good grade)
87-92% - 4+ (good plus grade)
77-86% - 4 (good grade)
70-76% - 3+ (sufficient plus grade)
60-69% - 3 (sufficient grade)
The final grade consists of:
- continuous, formative assessment (activity, preparation for classes, control tests, projects) - 30%
- final exam in the form of a written test - 70%
The student has the right to 2 unexcused absences, each subsequent one requires submitting an excuse. The student's presence at classes is confirmed by a signature on the list. Exceeding the permitted number of unexcused absences from classes requires obtaining an additional credit for an oral answer before taking the exam. The student has the right to take a written test in the retake session in the same form as in the regular session and on condition that the subject is admitted to be passed. Exceeding 50% of excused and unexcused absences in classes may be grounds for failing the subject.
