Selected issues in the history of Ukrainian literature 3222-50HL1K-N

The current discipline is based on the study of the modern literary process in Ukraine. Its goal is to introduce a higher education student to the so-called laboratory of creating cultural discourse at the level of a literary text. This is not only the study of specific literary works that reflect the level of cultural thinking and national consciousness. Rather, we are dealing with a complex system that represents both the problems of the book market, and legislative initiatives that provide a mechanism for the functioning of literature, and state-building social processes to which literature necessarily responds, choosing thematic, worldview and structural priorities.
This discipline studies the features of the formation and development of the artistic and verbal reception of the cultural consciousness of society at the current stage of its functioning. Thanks to the knowledge gained, students will be able to determine the problematic and stylistic features of a literary work, navigate in literary methodologies that are most optimal for the study of a specific literary text.

Completed Bachelor's degree Knowledge of English and Russian at an intermediate level (B1) is desirable During the course, the student should acquire in-depth knowledge of the history of Ukrainian literature and culture and its relations with European culture.

After completing the course:

Assessment criteria

Course credit requirements:
- class attendance
- preparation for classes
- passing the final assessment test

The final grade consists of the work performed during the semester (30%) and the exam result (70%).

Assessment criteria for the assessment test in percentages:
9% - 100% - 5! (very good grade with an exclamation point)
96% - 98% - 5 (very good grade)
87% - 95% - 4+ (good plus grade)
78% - 86% - 4 (good grade)
69% - 77% - 3+ (satisfactory plus grade)
60% - 68% - 3 (satisfactory grade)

Students are allowed two unexcused absences; each additional absence requires an excuse. The method of grading classes from which a student was absent is determined by the instructor. Exceeding 50% of the class attendance, both excused and unexcused, may result in failing the course.
