The course focuses on the in-depth development of advanced language competencies in the context of broadly understood administrative and institutional communication. The program aims to refine the ability to formulate precise statements both orally and in writing, with particular emphasis on formal style and the norms governing official discourse.
During the classes, students work on understanding complex texts with a high degree of formalization, learn to interpret their meaning within the context of institutional functioning, and develop the ability to produce their own statements in line with the requirements of professional communication. An important component of the training is also the improvement of argumentation skills, linguistic precision, and coherence of expression, which enables effective communication in demanding professional situations.
The course also includes the development of intercultural competencies, essential for working in multilingual and international environments. Students learn to adapt the form and style of communication to various institutional contexts and audiences while maintaining linguistic accuracy and appropriateness. The course prepares students for the conscious and professional use of the Ukrainian language in diverse administrative situations requiring a high level of language proficiency.

Total: 90 hours (3 ECTS)
If it is not possible to conduct classes in person, the classes will be held using remote communication tools recommended by the University of Warsaw (Zoom, Google Classroom).

Assessment criteria
Components of the final grade:
continuous formative assessment (ongoing class preparation, participation) – 30%
individual project – 30%
written final assessment – 40%
The course concludes with a graded pass, based on the following percentage thresholds:
98%–100% – 5! (excellent with distinction)
92%–97% – 5 (very good)
86%–91% – 4+ (good plus)
78%–85% – 4 (good)
69%–77% – 3+ (satisfactory plus)
60%–68% – 3 (satisfactory)
Attendance is also a condition for being admitted to the final assessment.
A student is entitled to 2 unexcused absences (out of 30 teaching hours); each additional absence requires formal justification.
The form of completing coursework missed due to absence is determined by the lecturer.
Exceeding 50% absence from classes, whether excused or unexcused, may constitute grounds for failing the course.
A student has the right to retake the assessment during the resit session in the same form as during the regular session, provided that they have met the requirements for admission to the course assessment. The lecturer may establish additional requirements for making up absences.
