Linguistic undergraduate seminar 3222-34SJ6S-N
The seminar discusses issues related to the choice of the topic of a bachelor's thesis, the principles of writing a scientific paper, the formal side of writing a thesis. At the same time, students are preparing to submit the entire Bachelor's thesis.
Student workload:
30 hours of classroom seminar – 1 ECTS
60 hours of research – 2 ECTS
60 hours of literature analysis, preparation of a thesis plan – 2 ECTS
150 hours of writing the thesis – 5 ECTS
60 hours of defense preparation – 2 ECTS
Total: 12 ECTS
If there is no possibility to conduct classes in a stationary form, classes will be held using remote communication tools, most likely Google meet and others recommended by the university.

The graduate:
1. knows and understands at an advanced level:
- the main research schools in the field of linguistics (K1_W01);
- the connections between linguistic research and its connections with other scientific disciplines (K1_W03);
- the history of the Ukrainian language (K1_W04);
2. is able to:
- search, analyze, evaluate, select and use Ukrainian language material and scientific works (K1_U01);
- use theoretical approaches appropriate to Ukrainian and comparative linguistics (K1_U02);
- formulate and solve research tasks in the field of linguistics (K1_U05);
3. is ready to:
- critically evaluate the knowledge held in the field of linguistics (K1_K01);
- adhere to ethical principles when preparing a bachelor's thesis (K1_K03).
Assessment criteria
Conditions for passing the course (in the first and second approaches):
- active participation in individual research projects;
- preparation of a bachelor's thesis.
The student has the right to 2 unjustified absences, each subsequent requires the submission of an excuse. The lecturer decides on the recognition of absence.
Form of passing the classes at which the student was absent-homework.
Exceeding the absence of justified and unjustified by 50%. classes can be the basis for not counting the subject.
