Specialized linguistic seminar II - Ukrainian translation lexicography 3222-32LT5K-N
The course aims to equip students with knowledge of the contemporary theoretical and practical foundations of Ukrainian lexicography. At the core of the teaching process is a comprehensive analysis of the academic dictionary Dictionary of the Ukrainian Language in 20 Volumes (https://sum20ua.com/).
Students learn to analyze the structure and content of dictionary entries, the system of headword units, methods of definition, and types of semantic relationships between lexemes presented in this dictionary.
The seminar format supports the development of skills in interpreting lexicographic texts, integrating theoretical knowledge with practical experience in lexicographic analysis, and developing the ability to independently search for linguistic information in dictionaries.
Seminar – 30 hours
Individual preparation for each class – 15 hours
Project preparation – 15 hours
Total – approx. 60 hours (2 ECTS)
In case in-person classes cannot be held, the course will be conducted using remote communication tools recommended by the University of Warsaw (e.g., Zoom, Google Classroom).
