The aim of the course is to provide students with knowledge on how to translate various texts, especially literary texts, to familiarize them with the sources that translators can use (online and book dictionaries, correctness studies), to develop the habit of checking the grammatical, stylistic and lexical correctness of a translation, and to introduce them to the issues synonymy and interlingual equivalence.
The classes will be devoted to the practice of written and oral translation: liasion translation (sentence by sentence) and consecutive interpreting (follow-up).

Assessment criteria
Conditions for passing the course and being accepted for the final assessment:
- class attendance
- translations as homework and exercises during classes
Assessment components:
- continuous, formative assessment - ongoing translations as homework and translation exercises performed during classes – 50%
- final test – 50%
Written assessment, with assessment criteria presented in the form of percentage points (points earned for the assessment):
60% – 68% - 3 (satisfactory grade)
69% – 77% - 3+ (satisfactory plus grade)
78% – 86% - 4 (good grade)
87% – 95% - 4+ (good plus grade)
96% – 98% - 5 (very good grade)
99% – 100% - 5 ! (very good grade with an exclamation mark)
Students are allowed 2 unexcused absences. Each subsequent absence requires an excuse. The instructor determines how to make up remaining unexcused absences.
If a student fails to pass the last class of the semester, they are entitled to receive a pass and a final grade under the same conditions in the initial and retake sessions.
