The classes are managed in the Ukrainian language, with part of explanations offered in Polish. The content is relative to the cognitive and communicative needs of the participants. Accordingly, the classes cover a series of practical exercises (lexical and grammatical), oriented to dealing with typical situations. The aim is to develop language competences, enabling the learner to use vocabulary and grammatical means through:
-active listening to texts, short radio / television programs, and revision of vocabulary already learned (expressions and sentences);
-listening to native-speakers and practicing communication skills and speaking in short dialogues with the native-speaker;
-practicing and solidifying lexical material and grammatical structures in written and oral formats;
Along with text books, specially selected short excerpts of press articles, literary texts, and Internet resources are used. The following techniques and didactic tools are used in classes: audiovisuals and multimedia, diverse recordings, and mnemonics.
The students learn the language through topics related to:
-cultural and historic aspects of Ukraine, descriptions of main cities and tourist attractions, viewing photographs, tourist guide books and folders;
-the use of props and paraphernalia from Ukraine.
The student should devote a large no. of hours to the process of learning (extensive reading, watching television programs and authentic films are expected).
The total no. of hours should cover: in-class time (15 weeks per semester, 8 hours per week 120, 4 ects) and self-study time (100 hours per semester - 3 ects)

2. Higher group is dedicated for students who know Ukrainian. Work concentrates on proper use of language and language awarness, so as students after course can recognise mistakes and avoid them.

-listening to native-speakers and practicing communication skills and speaking in short dialogues with the native-speaker;
-practicing and solidifying lexical material and grammatical structures in written and oral formats;
- correcting mistakes.
Along with text books, specially selected short excerpts of press articles, literary texts, and Internet resources are used. The following techniques and didactic tools are used in classes: audiovisuals and multimedia, diverse recordings, and mnemonics.
If it is not possible to conduct classes on university premises, classes
shall be held with the aid of distance learning tools, most likely Google
Meet and others recommended by the University of Warsaw.

Assessment criteria
Conditions for completing the course and admission to the final test (credit of degree):
- continuous assessment, ie active participation in classes, passing tests, participation on individual project (analysing text)
The final mark consists of marks from term (30%) and final credit of degree 70%.
The course ends with a written credit for a degree, where the assessment criteria are presented in the form of percentage thresholds (points obtained from the final test credit of degree)
60% - 68% - 3 (satisfactory)
69% - 77% - 3+ (satisfactory plus)
78% - 86% - 4 (good)
87% - 90% - 4+ (good plus)
91%-98% - 5 (very good
99% -100% - 5! (Very good with an exclamation mark)
Student can sit the final test for the second time in session. It has the same form and condition as during first time.
The student has the right to 2 unexcused absences, each subsequent one requires an explanation. The lecturer will decide whether to accept absence or not.
The form for completion of classes on which the student was absent is determined by the lecturer.
If the total absences excused and unexcused exceeds 50 % of classes, this may be the basis to which the student fails the course.

Spoken works assessment criteria (oraz feedback of speech) a) coherence and fluency, b) correctnes, c) compliance with the topic.
