Directions of development in contemporary Ukrainian literature 3222-30KRLU1K-N
The course discusses the most important trends in Ukrainian literature in the second half of the 20th century. Starting with the post-war period, we will trace the groundbreaking stages of the development of independent Ukrainian literature in the era of totalitarianism (the generation of the 1960s and 1970s), the specificity of the literary process during the period of political transformation and the first decade of Ukrainian independence. We will discuss the specificity of Ukrainian postmodernism on the basis of selected literary works by Yuri Andrukhovych.

Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students will:
know and understand the media context of Ukrainian literature and contemporary forms of literature (K1_W07)
be able to search for, critically analyse and evaluate, select and use information on Ukrainian literature (K1_U03)
be able to use theoretical approaches specific to Ukrainian literature (K1_U04)
formulate and solve a research task in the field of Ukrainian literary studies (K1_U06)
be ready to critically evaluate their knowledge and the content they receive (K1_K01)
Assessment criteria
Written exam.
Requirements for admission to the exam:
- class attendance,
- systematic preparation of the assigned material for classes.
Assessment components:
- continuous, formative assessment (ongoing preparation for classes, active participation) – 30%
- exam – 70%
The course concludes with a written exam, where the assessment criteria are presented in the form of percentage thresholds (points obtained from the oral and written exams). 60% - 68% - 3 (satisfactory grade)
69% - 77% - 3+ (satisfactory plus grade)
78% - 85% - 4 (good grade)
86% - 91% - 4+ (good plus grade)
92% - 97% - 5 (very good grade)
98% -100% - 5 ! (very good grade with an exclamation mark)
Students are allowed two (out of 30 hours) unexcused absences; each subsequent absence requires an excuse. The lecturer decides whether an absence is recognized.
The form of credit for classes from which the student was absent is determined by the lecturer.
Exceeding the number of excused and unexcused absences in 50% of classes may constitute grounds for failing the course.
