Polish-Ukrainian applied linguistics 3222-30JS5K-NW
Classes are designed to master the basics of Applied Polish-Ukrainian linguistics by students. Students will get acquainted with the methodology of applied research, including in detail comparative. The problems of bilingual corpus linguistics and lexicography are considered separately.
The subject is connected with classes on descriptive grammar, syntax, lexicon and word formation, historical grammar of the Ukrainian language and culture and stylistics of the Polish language.
The language material necessary for the analysis of the relationship between polish and Ukrainian expands the linguistic competence of students, since classes are conducted in Ukrainian.
If there is no possibility to conduct classes in a stationary form, classes will be held using remote communication tools, most likely Google meet and recommended by the university.
The estimated total number of hours that the student must spend to achieve the learning outcomes defined for the subject – 60 hours.
Classes-30 hours.
Independent work of the student: Current preparation for Classes – 15 hours, preparation for passing – 15 hours.

After completing the course, the student:
1. knowledge:
- knows and understands Advanced Studies in the field of Applied Polish-Ukrainian linguistics, knows the subject and methodological specifics of the subject, terminology and specifics of philological studies (S1_W01);
- knows and understands to an advanced degree the complex nature of language and the complexity and historical variability of its meanings (S1_W06);
2. skills:
- is able to use theoretical concepts, research paradigms and concepts relevant to applied Polish-Ukrainian linguistics in typical professional situations (S1_U04);
- can communicate with specialists in the field of linguistics and translators in polish and Ukrainian using various communication channels and techniques (s1_u06).
Assessment criteria
Conditions for admission to credit:
- ongoing preparation for classes,
- attendance at classes (the student has the right to two absences).
Assessment components:
- continuous, formative assessment (ongoing preparation for classes, including selection and discussion of selected scientific works, activity, etc.) – 10%
- written credit-90%.
Credit criteria (percentage thresholds):
99% -100% - 5 !(very good with exclamation mark)
96% - 98 % - 5 (very good)
87% - 95% - 4+ (good plus)
78% - 86% - 4 (good)
69% - 77% - 3+ (sufficient plus)
60% – 68% - 3 (satisfactory)
The student has the right to pass the subject in the revision session on the same principles as the basic session.
