Ukrainian descriptive grammar - phonetics 3222-30GF1K-N
Phonetics of the modern Ukrainian language covers topics in the field of phonetics and phonology. It uses material concerning the description of articulatory sounds as well as ekxpiratory and inspiratory nature of sounds, mechanism of phones, the phenomenon of co-articulation and gives the basic phonological procedure of the modern Ukrainian language. It presents the basic problems with intonation and accent. It covers the most important issues of changes in the system of vocalic and consonant articulation. It classifies and discusses the phenomenon of assimilations and dissimilation, changes of consonants and consonant groups. It communicates the main principles of the modern Ukrainian orthopeic standards.
Estimated number of hours that a student must devote to achieve the object defined for the learning outcomes - approx. 30 hours:
organized hours - 15 hours
preparation for each class - about 0,5 hour before each class = 15 hours
preparation for an exam: – 8 hours

If it is not possible to conduct classes on university premises, classes shall be held with the aid of distance learning tools, most likely Google Meet and others recommended by the University of Warsaw.

After the course:

Assessment criteria
Requirements for passing the course and being admitted to the final assessment:
- attendance at classes
- individual work (project – analysis).
The final mark is composed of:
- the result of the written assessment (70%).
- project results (30%)
The course concludes with a written assessment, where the grading criteria are presented as percentage thresholds (marks obtained from the assessment):
98%–100% – 5! (very good with an exclamation mark)
92%–97% – 5 (very good)
86%–91% – 4+ (good plus)
78%–85% – 4 (good)
69%–77% – 3+ (satisfactory plus)
60% – 68% - 3 (pass)
Students are entitled to one unexcused absence; any further absences require a valid excuse. The lecturer decides whether an absence is accepted.
The method of assessment for classes in which a student was absent is determined by the lecturer.
Exceeding 50% of excused and unexcused absences may result in the course not being passed.
A student is entitled to sit an assessment during the resit period in the same format as during the main examination period, provided they have passed the course.
