(in Polish) Seminarium magisterskie II 3221-S2-FBA-SEM12
During the there are discussed the historical and cultural contexts of national identity of Belarusians shaping, with particular emphasis on the role of the mother tongue.
In the history of Belarus there was not a monolingual period, there was always bilingualism, and even polilingualism. The particular multilingualism characterised the period of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, which was a reflection of ethnolinguistic relations prevailing in the GDL and is reflected in the cultural heritage.
Particularly interesting is the traditional culture on the border (rituals, beliefs, clothing), providing the ethnic identification of borderland. Awareness of cultural diversity can be seen very clearly on the example of the modern Baltic-Slavic border in north-eastern Poland.
An important evidence of ethnic s, social and religious relation are the headstone inscriptions, in which an important role plays not only language, but also a form of writing.
During the seminar it is discussed the situation and development of Belarusian language in different periods of the history of the Belarusian territory, with particular emphasis on sources of modern Belarusian language.
Political boundaries do not define the limits of language, what can be clearly seen on the example of Polish -eastern Slavic borderland's dialects. Much controversy among researchers and residents of Bialystok, calls the Ukrainian-Belarusian language boundary in Podlasie.
