Classes are devoted to mastering by the student specific knowledge in the scope of the topics described below and shaping receptive and productive skills within the framework of political discourse.
Course topics:
1. Elections, voting, election slogans.
2. State and city administration.
3. Current questions of Polish, Belarusian and European politics.
4. The language of propaganda. Fake news. Source, goals and effects.
5. Work of parliamentary committees in Poland, Belarus and the EU parliament.
Preparation and delivery of papers on the following topics:
"Opposition party in Belarus and their leaders", "Eastern partnership and EU-Belarus cooperation", "Fake news - source and effects", "The language of propaganda - how it is created. Examples from the Belarusian press".

Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student:
1. KNOWLEDGE: knows and understands:
- the functioning of the language in a deeper degree in various contexts, incl. literature, culture, religion, history, art, politics, economy and media
- the nature of the language, the essence and the impact of historical and cultural changes on its development to a greater extent
- to a greater extent, inter-linguistic differences and similarities as well as appropriate inter-language transfer techniques
- the essence of specialist communication, its limitations and challenges to a greater extent
- concepts and principles in the field of intellectual property protection, in particular copyright
2. SKILLS: can:
- search, analyze, evaluate, select and use information using multilingual sources, including online sources, in unpredictable conditions
- formulate and test hypotheses related to simple research problems in the field of linguistics
- identify types of specialized texts and carry out their linguistic analysis
- communicate with the use of various channels and communication techniques in the selected foreign language
- prepare correct, extensive, clear and consistent written work in a foreign language on selected topics, also as part of specialist communication
- use a foreign language at the level indicated in the description of the subject, also as part of specialist communication
- manage team work and collaborate in team work
- independently plan and implement one's own lifelong learning and direct others in this regard
3. COMPETENCE: is ready to:
- critical assessment of knowledge and content received
- correct identification and resolution of professional dilemmas while maintaining traditions and principles of professional ethics and developing one's own professional competences
- initiating activities for the public interest and the local environment, acting in an entrepreneurial manner
Assessment criteria
Conditions for completing the course:
- presence and active participation in classes
- systematic preparation of the given material for classes
- timely homework and control work
- active participation in the work on presentations, speeches and projects
The following criteria are used for credits:
- achievement of the assumed learning outcomes covering all important aspects - 5.0 (very good)
- achievement of the assumed learning outcomes covering all important aspects with a small number of errors or inaccuracies - 4.5 (good plus)
- achievement of the assumed learning outcomes, omitting some (less important) aspects - 4.0 (good)
- achieving the assumed learning outcomes with the omission of some important aspects and with significant inaccuracies - 3.5 (satisfactory plus)
- achievement of the assumed learning outcomes with the omission of important aspects or with serious inaccuracies - 3.0 (satisfactory plus)
- failure to achieve the assumed learning outcomes - 2.0 (unsatisfactory)
A maximum of 2 unexcused absences from classes are allowed, each subsequent one requires a justification. The lecturer decides whether to acknowledge the absence. Exceeding the excused and unjustified absences for 50% of classes may be the basis for failing the course. The conditions for completing the course within the retake date are the same as those for the first time
In the case of distance learning will be used a educational platforms: the Zoom and the Campus (Come).
