Key topics discussed during the course:
1. Key topics related to intellectual property right.
2. Main regulations and acts of law.
3. Domestic and international actions towards intellectual property protection.
4. The subject matter of intellectual property:
- Industrial property law:
a) patents for inventions
b) trade mark signs
c) industrial designs
- Confidentiality within a company
- Copyrights and related rights.
Due to the nature of the philology studies, the course concentrates on familiarising the students with applying the principles of intellectual property rights most importantly regulated by the Act of 4th February 1994 on intellectual property rights and related rights (with later amendments)

Learning outcomes
Knowledge:
- student knows and understands key topics and principles of intellectual property right,
- raised awareness of the existence of norms and ethical principles,
- students has basic understanding of current regulations related to IPR.
Skills:
- student defines characteristics of different IPR categories,
- student applies principles governed by relevant regulations within IPR,
- student avoids risks resulting in breach of IPR.
Awareness:
- student has raised awareness of their level of knowledge on IPR and is able to build on this knowledge as necessary,
- student correctly identifies and resolves IPR disputes during the degree course and later on during professional life,
- student complies with the rules of using copyrighted material.
