Practical Belarusian IV 3221-S1-FBA-NJBIV22
Classes are a continuation of Practical Belarusian at advanced level. Their goal is to develop the language skills of students based on the main occuracies surrounding the life of man. During the classes there is being developed the ability to use grammatical structures in Belarusian correctly on the basis of extensive texts (for example, fragments of novels, journalistic articles, advertising leaflets, websites). With regard to the grammar focus is particularly on issues such as: construction of simple and complex sentences, use of participles, iflection of possesive adjectives, syntactic structures numeral + noun, and ways of inflection of selectedn verbs (for example, defining different types of leisure). Widely discussed and illustrated are also problems of synonymy, antonymy and homonymy in Belarusian language. In order to improve students' communication skills there are also presented selected lexical constructions, such as tchwareć na szto? / czym?, leki ad hrypu, or ways of expressing purpose.
The various aspects of grammar and advanced spelling issues, such as the spelling of compound adjectives, are presented on the basis of longer written texts (usually of a journalistic - articles, reports, advertising brochures, reviews). In the same way is also presented lexical material covering the following topics: physical and psychological condition of human (health, health-care system, the types of diseases, body care, horoscopes), environment (climate, weather effects on humans, human impact on the environment, ecology, environmental organizations), Polish and Belarusian NGOs, house (planning the purchase and construction, furniture, bank loans, garden, neighborhood), leisure (holiday resorts, television, cinema, theater, circus, film types, the activities of travel agencies).
The knowledge acquired during the course, students practice by: conducting discussions (with the earlier preparation of the argument), preparation of oral presentations on selected issues, preparation of written work (reviews, descriptions of places), review (oral and written) of selected newspaper articles, etc.

Learning outcomes
The student knows and understands at an advanced level:
- Belarusian philological terminology (S1_W10)
The student can:
- recognize language structures and assess their correctness (S1_U10),
- communicate using various channels and communication techniques with specialists in Belarusian philology (S1_U20),
- plan and implement your own lifelong learning independently (S1_U22),
- assess the level of your knowledge and skills as well as the awareness of the need to supplement knowledge and improve skills (S1_U25)
The student is ready to:
- correct identification and resolution of dilemmas related to the profession of philologist (S1_K01)
Assessment criteria
Conditions for admission to final examination:
- systematic preparation for classes of the given material;
- timely execution of housework and control tests;
- active participation in the work on presentations, individual and group presentations;
-positive grades must be obtained from all NJB teachers.
The exam consists of: a written and oral part:
- written part (grammatical and lexical test and translation task and working out on one of three topics to choose from) -
criteria: knowledge of grammatical structures, vocabulary and spelling.
test - grading system:
99 – 100% - 5! (excellent)
93 - 98% - 5 (very good)
87 - 92% - 4,5 (fairly good)
77 - 86% - 4 (good)
71 - 76% - 3,5 (satisfactory plus)
60 - 70% - 3 (satisfactory)
Below 60% - 2,0 (unsatisfactory)
Working out - criteria:
a / compliance with the theme,
b / compliance with the required form,
c / composition,
d / volume of work,
e / language wealth,
f / linguistic correctness.
- oral part / criteria:
a / communication effectiveness (the student understands the interlocutor, adequately answers questions and formulates answers, is aware of the most important polite conventions);
b / fluency of speech;
c / correct use of grammatical structures;
d / using the proper vocabulary e / correctness of pronunciation and intonation.
There is only one exam and it covers issues from four thematic blocks.The condition for admission to the oral examination is passing the written exam. The condition for passing the exam is to obtain a positive evaluation in the written and oral parts.
The final mark of the exam consists of the following components:
Assessment of written exam 50% + oral exam grade 50% = final grade of the exam
The student has the right to 2 unexcused absences, each subsequent one requires justification. The lecturer decides on the recognition of absence. Exceeding excused and unexcused absences by 50% of classes may be grounds to fail the course. The conditions for passing the course on the resit exam are the same as on the ordinary of exam.
