History of Belarus to the end of XVIII century 3221-S1-0HB11K
The aim fo the course is to show the outline of history of the state nowadays called the Republic of Belarus from the early dark ages (447) till the end of XVIII century.
The course includes in monographic and comparative frame the main problems of the history of this state from the rising referred to the Great Polotsk Duchy (Polotsk Rus) and its relations during the Rogvolodovichs Empire (980-1239) with the chaganat of Ruses (Kiev Rus), with the particular attention paid on the centres of political authority, that arise in XIII century in Novogrodek and in XIV century in Vilnius, on the role of baronial stems in civilization development of the Great Lithuanian Duchy and Eastern Borderland and on Polish union elements (in 1385, 1413 and 1569).
The course includes common text reading and individual sources searching.

After completing the course,
1. KNOWLEDGE: student understands and has an advanced knowledge of
- subject and methodological characteristics of research in Belarusian studies as well as terminology used in this area
-the role of Belarus in the modern world and its influence on the development of Belarusian literature and the Belarusian language
-events from the history of Belarus
2. SKILLS: student can
- provide a relevant interpretation of the development of the Belarusian idea of national independence and its reflection in culture
3. SOCIAL COMPETENCIES: student is ready to
- respect other cultures, views and attitudes
Assessment criteria
In the final evaluation there are taken into account the results of two multiple-choice tests, activity and attendance.
1. Test checking the knowledge of the history of Belarus in the period of Russians Konungat (IX-XII century);
2. Test checking the knowledge of the history of Belarus in the period of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, Ruthenian, Samogitian and other territories (XIII-XVIII century).
