Axiological Dimensions of Russian Literature II 3202-S2SMWA12z
The second semester of the seminar provides: 1) analysis of texts from literary theory devoted to evaluation of a literary work, 2) attempts to interpret literary texts (Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Anna Akhmatova vs Marina Tsvetaeva) in the context of axiological problems, 3) other issues adapted to the topic of master's theses.

Learning outcomes
Knowledge:
1. A student knows the basic issues and the current state of research in the field of literary axiology.
2. A student knows theoretical texts regarding the evaluation of a literary work
Skills:
1. A student is able to present his or her circle of scientific interests related to the profile of the master's seminar
2. A student is able to find information on the subject of his master's thesis using various sources
3. A student is able to write summaries of the literature studies and define its key words.
4. A student has research skills in the analysis and interpretation of a literary work in the context of axiological issues
Social competences:
1. A student understands specificity of the literary studies.
2. A student is aware of his responsibility for the preservation of the European cultural and literary heritage.
3. A student is aware of the contribution of the Russian culture in the cultural heritage of Europe.
4. A student is aware of the value of the cultural diversity and respects the signs of the interculturality.
5.A student is aware of his knowledge and feels to be obligated to its further increasing.
Assessment criteria
A chapter of the MA thesis, continuous assessment (current preparation for classes and activity)
30% grade for essay and bibliography.
30 hours (1 ECTS) - seminar
120 hours (4 ECTS) - student's own work:
20% - library query
30% - analysis of the sources
50% - preparation of 30% essay and bibliography
The student has the right to 2 unexcused absences, each subsequent one requires justification. The lecturer decides on the recognition of absence.
Exceeding excused and unexcused absences by 50% of classes may be grounds to fail the course.The conditions for passing the course on the resit exam are the same as on the ordinary of exam.
If it is not possible to conduct classroom classes, classes will be conducted using distance communication tools, most likely Google Classroom and others recommended by the University of Warsaw.
