Linguistic and non-linguistic aspects of equivalence I 3202-S2SMAE11z
The aim of the seminar is to introduce the students to various kinds of interlanguage equivalence and their links with translatorics, contrastive linguistics, typology of languages and ethnolinguistics.
On the basis of gained knowledge during the two year seminars the students write the master’s thesis including the theoretical part based on the literature of the subject and the practical part based on student’s own research in the chosen material of Russian and Polish.

Learning outcomes
Knowledge:
- student knows general principles of academic writing;
- student knows general rules of citations, compilations of bibliography and preparation of references;
- student has detailed knowledge of the humanities terminology;
Skills:
- student is able to compile a scientific bibliography on selected topic;
- student knows and applies relevant scientific terminology
- student is able to use intentionally and effectively dictionaries, lexicons for specific purposes and source materials, internet databases.
Social competences:
- student understands and adheres to the principles of intellectual property rights’ protections;
- student understands the necessity of permanent studies.
Assessment criteria
Credit is passed to the student, who actively participated in the classes, defined the subject of the diploma thesis, collected min. 10% of the material for research and developed min. 5 bibliographic entries.
The student has the right to 2 unexcused absences, each subsequent one requires justification. The lecturer decides on the recognition of absence.
Exceeding excused and unexcused absences by 50% of classes may be grounds to fail the course.
The conditions for passing the course on the resit exam are the same as on the ordinary of exam.
