Comparative Linguistics involves the study of general issues of language systems, language and speech standards, national and cultural peculiarities of Russian, English, German, Polish and others languages, as well as their practical comparison on different linguistic levels.

Learning outcomes
As a result of studying the discipline "Comparative Linguistics", students should
KNOW:
• the basics of the comparative method of linguistic research;
• traditional and modern methods of contrastive directions;
• comparative aspects of linguistic features of research at the level of phonetics, word formation, morphology, syntax, lexicology and style;
• the role of language in the creation of the national mentality, and to take into account national and cultural peculiarities in a comparative analysis;
SKILLS:
• use the principles and methods of analysis in the contractive linguistic translational and lexicographical studies.
Assessment criteria
Studying discipline "Comparative Linguistics" means:
- an interim control in the form of practical task of comparative lexicographical study vocabulary of Russian and Polish languages;
- writing and defense of the essay (course work) for one of the proposed topics;
- and ends with an oral competition.
