The main topics of the seminar class:
1. Review of issues, concepts, terms, methods, etc. used in lexicology: the concept of a lexical unit, types of word fields, semantic relations within fields, issues related to the textual relativity of fields.
2. Review of the literature on the subject: the most important theoretical and material works in the field of lexicology, which formed the basis of research on vocabulary.
3. Principles of searching and collecting bibliographic materials. Preparation of a bibliography, etc.
4. Presentation of worthwhile and feasible research topics.
5. Principles of searching and collecting lexical material.
6. Presentation of students' attempts to apply the acquired theoretical knowledge in practice (presentation of the collected material, analysis of the obtained results, possible discussion of own results against the background of those published by other researchers).
In addition, the structure of the diploma thesis and the specificity of its language (scientific Russian) are discussed.
