The program includes, among others, the following topics:
1. Commercial company on the modern market (advertising and marketing activities, trademark and company brand, preparation of a commercial transaction) – 10 hours.
2. Basics of commercial correspondence (standard and elements of an official letter, simple and complex commercial letters) – 10 hours.
3. Contemporary labor market (market situation, employment problems, personnel selection, online recruitment, preparation of a CV and cover letter, preparation for a job interview) – 10 hours.

Knowledge
The student:
1. knows and understands the principles of business activity in the conditions of the modern market;
2. knows and understands the basics of commercial correspondence and the principles of writing official letters;
3. knows and understands the situation on the modern labor market, employment problems and recruitment principles;
Skills
The student:
1. is able to prepare advertising announcements in Russian;
2. can edit commercial letters in Russian (requests for quotation, binding offers, complaints, response to complaints);
3. is able to independently search, analyze and evaluate job offers, prepare a CV and cover letter, and participate in a job interview.
Social competences
The student:
1. is ready to critically evaluate his knowledge;
2. is ready to respect different attitudes, views, customs and cultures;
3. is ready to accept the value of a specialized business language for a Russian scholar and is aware of the existence of an ethical dimension in contemporary business relations and the moral imperative to respect them.
Assessment criteria
Assessment of the course:
- presence and active participation in classes
- systematic preparation of the assigned material for classes
- timely completion of homework and inspections
- active participation in work on the project
The following criteria apply to the credits:
- achieving the expected learning outcomes covering all important aspects - 5.0 (very good)
- achieving the expected learning outcomes covering all important aspects with a small number of errors or inaccuracies - 4.5 (good plus)
- achieving the expected learning outcomes without some (less important) aspects - 4.0 (good)
- achieving the expected learning outcomes without some important aspects and with significant inaccuracies - 3.5 (satisfactory plus)
- achieving the expected learning outcomes without significant aspects or with serious inaccuracies - 3.0 (satisfactory plus)
- failure to achieve the expected learning outcomes – 2.0 (unsatisfactory)
Assessment components:
- continuous, formative assessment (current preparation for classes, activity) – 30%
- mid-semester review papers – 35%
- speeches, project – 35%
Criteria for assessing written submissions:
a/ compliance of the statement with the topic,
b/ compliance of the statement with the required form,
c/ composition,
d/ linguistic richness,
e/ linguistic correctness
Criteria for assessing the oral presentation:
a/ communication effectiveness (the student communicates effectively and correctly)
b/ fluency and coherence of speech, phonetic correctness
c/ correct use of grammatical structures (full or almost complete)
d/ appropriate selection of vocabulary consistent with the topic
The student has the right to 2 unexcused absences, each subsequent one requires justification. The lecturer decides on the recognition of absence. Exceeding excused and unexcused absences by 50% of classes may be grounds to fail the course. The conditions for passing the course on the resit exam are the same as on the ordinary of exam...
If it is not possible to conduct classroom classes, classes will be conducted using distance communication tools, most likely Google Classroom and others recommended by the University of Warsaw.
