Lexical topics:
1. Self-presentation. Formal and informal introductions. Survey data. Interests, hobbies. Lifestyle. Determining the origin and place of residence. Curriculum Vitae (including for professional purposes).
Making friends. Showing, introducing and describing people. Forms of courtesy (requests, thanks, apologies).
2.Family circle. The names of family members. Determining relationships between people. Characteristics of family members. Activities of everyday life.
3. Periods of life. Social relations. Important life decisions.
Spelling issues:
The spelling rules of the soft and the hard signs. The spelling rules of the vowels following hush sibilants and “Ц”, the spelling of the vowels in the root of the word (vowel gradation), the spelling of voiced and voiceless consonants.
Grammar:
Correct usage based on the simple sentence:
of declarative and interrogative sentences with nominal predicate (different types of linking), the expressions of ownership (у + genitive), of the expressions with the verbs denoting taking sth. back (у, от), or taking away from smb. (“взять”, “забрать”, “достать” etc.), of the verb to have “имееть” as a predicate.
Practical analysis of grammatical and spelling similarities and differences between Polish and Russian.

1. The student knows language devices enabling him/her to formulate phonetically, morphologically, syntactically, lexically and grammatically correct simple oral and written statements
2. The student knows the differences and similarities between the grammatical systems of Polish and Russian
SKILLS
1. The student is able to formulate simple coherent oral and written statements on the subjects covered by the program
2. The student is able to participate in common communication situations using language devices within the scope of all the course material
SOCIAL COMPETENCES
1. The student is ready to use new information in the right context as well as for creative thinking
2. The student is ready to take responsibility for his/her own activities related to the improvement of Russian
Assessment criteria
Assessment of the course:
- presence and active participation in classes,
- systematic preparation for the assigned material,
- preparing homeworks and control works on time,
- active participation in preparation for presentations, speeches, projects.
In order to obtain a credit the following criteria are taken into account:
- achieving the assumed learning outcomes covering all relevant aspects - 5,0 (very good grade)
- achieving the assumed learning outcomes covering all relevant aspects with a small number of errors or inaccuracies - 4,5 (good plus)
- achieving the assumed learning outcomes not taking into account some (less important) aspects - 4,0 (good grade)
- achieving the assumed learning outcomes, omitting some important aspects and with significant inaccuracies - 3,5 (satisfactory plus)
- achieving the assumed learning outcomes, omitting important aspects or with serious inaccuracies - 3,0 (satisfactory)
- no achievement of the assumed learning outcomes - 2,0 (unsatisfactory)
The components of assessment:
- continuous assessment (the current preparation for classes and activities) - 30%
- control tests during the semester - 35%
- presentations, speeches, projects – 35%
Criteria for the assessment of written statement:
a/ compliance of the statements with the topic,
b/ compliance of the statement with the required form,
c/ composition,
d/ the length of work,
e/ richness of vocabulary,
f/ linguistic correctness.
Criteria for the assessment of oral statement:
a/ compliance of the statements with the topic,
b/ cohesion and fluency of speech,
c/ richness of vocabulary,
d/ linguistic correctness
e/ correct pronunciation.
The student has the right to 2 unexcused absences, each subsequent one requires justification. The lecturer decides on the recognition of absence.
Exceeding excused and unexcused absences by 50% of classes may be grounds to fail the course.The conditions for passing the course on the resit exam are the same as on the ordinary of exam.
If it is not possible to conduct classroom classes, classes will be conducted using distance communication tools, most likely Google Classroom and others recommended by the University of Warsaw.
Practical placement
No professional training within the subject.
