METHODOLOGY OF LEGAL TRANSLATION 3201-IPSKT-MPP
The issues discussed include, but are not limited to:
1. Sources of knowledge of a sworn translator
2. Pleadings and official letters
3. Layout of a translated text
4. Translator’s notes and comments in a target text
5. Proper names
6. Errors in a source text
7. Certification of a document
8. Professional responsibility of a sworn translator
9. Register of a sworn translator
The documents presented and analyzed as both classroom and homework assignments illustrate the above issues as well as the way they are applied according to the principles provided for by the Polish “Code of Sworn Translator” and by the Act of 25 November 2004 on the Profession of Sworn Translator

1. Define the concept of sworn translator and certified translation
2. Discuss legal and ethical basis of the profession
SKILLS
1. Carry out lexical and pragmatic analysis of legal texts
2. Translate legal texts in compliance with the principles provided for by the Polish “Code of Sworn Translator” and by the Act of 25 November 2004 on the Profession of Sworn Translator
ATTITUDES
1. Correctly assess manifestations of the translator’s creativeness
2. Understand the meaning of principles of professional ethics of sworn translator
