Consecutive interpreting-level 1 3201-2TKOA
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with basic aspects related to consecutive interpreting (basic processes taking place during interpretation, note-taking, mnemotechniques, strategies, ethics in interpreting, etc.), as well as to provide them with an insight into the profession. During the course, student focus not only on perfecting the technical skills needed for interpreting, but also expand their general knowledge and command of lanugages (mother tongue and the foreign language).
Student’s workload (4 ECTS), including:
- active assistance in the classes (18 hours) – 2 ECTS
- individual preparation for the classes (18 hours) - 2 ECTS

Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student:
- is able to interpret consecutively (with notes) a general text (c.a. 6 mins)
- is able to interpret consecutively (with notes) a semi-specialised text (c.a. 6 mins)
- is able to make a sight interpretation
- is familiar with other forms of interpreting (chuchotage, liaison) and is able to provide them
- is able to assess an interpretation and to describe possible errors
- is familiar with the ethics and professional aspects of the work of an interpreter
Assessment criteria
Continuous assessment of students’ preparation and participation in the classes, the quality and timely completion of written and oral assignments set by the instructors, results of the pre-exam evaluation and the final examination.

Indicated by the trainer and by individual selection, depending on the topics of the interpreted speeches.
