The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the rudiments and stages of translation, basic elements of a translator’s workshop, selected aspects of the Polish-foreign translation confrontation, various translation techniques and strategies. The students will do exercises involving translation analysis of the source text, search for the best equivalents (using a variety of credible sources like dictionaries, parallel texts, language corpora, terminology banks, translators' fora, etc.), analyze bi-texts, and edit target texts in Polish.
