Student’s workload:
2 x 30, i.e. 60 class hours;
30 hrs preparation;
10 hrs final assignment or test preparation.
In sum: 100 hrs, corresponding to 4 ECTS.
The last semester can be divided into two segments. First and foremost, the students polish their intrepreting skills during regular classroom sessions oriented towards developing the ability to render details, keep target text logic, maintain correct articulation and proper style. The students practise by means of various advanced texts of different style and logic, delivered by different source text speakers.
In addition, the students work in groups and take part in sessions simulating the real-life interpreting experience, i.e. the so-called mock conferences. These sessions are aimed at preparing the students for work post-graduation. The participants develop the ability to prepare for an assignment, cooperate with their boothmates, work with the virtual client and behave adequately during the assignment itself.
The practical exercises are supplemented with projects conducted on one’s own or in teams, related to the development of vocabulary and general knowledge, e.g. by means of preparing vocabulary lists or presentations.
In order to raise the awareness of professional standards, the students are encouraged to take part in university conferences where simultaneous interpreting is provided.
Furthermore, the EU accreditation test is also covered when it comes to simultaneous interpreting together with the quality assessment criteria.
The students also take part in extra-curricular virtual classes conducted with partner national and foreign institutions, including univeristies and EU facilities.

Upon completing the course, the student:
KNOWLEDGE
1. knows the types and forms of simultaneous interpreting and current trends in its development (S2_W01, K_W02, K_W03, K_W05, K_W11)
2. knows advanced strategies and techniques of simultaneous interpreting, as well as booth etiquette and microphone use, as well as principles of cooperation with a client (S2_W02, K_W01, K_W02, K_W03, K_W10)
SKILLS
1. is capable of interpreting highly specialised texts delivered by different speakers (S2_U01, K_U01, K_U03, K_U05)
2. can simultaneously interpret from French into Polish (A) and from Polish (A) into French long texts, advanced in terms of vocabulary,
phraseology and structure, as well as accreditation test-type texts (S2_K_U03, K_U04, K_U07, K_U08, K_U09, K_U10, K_U11, K_U13)

1. is prepared to uphold the ethos of the interpreting profession and to observe and develop the principles of professional ethics for interpreters, knows work standards and professional ethics: booth etiquette, teamwork rules, knows how to work with another interpreter during an assignment, is prepared to establish cooperation with a client, (S2_KO8, K_K04, K_K05) (K_W11, K_K02, K_K04)
