Terminology A and C - Russian language, level 2 3200-M2-2TAC2R
The aim of the subject is to deepen the knowledge of the terminology of languages A and C on the example of the selected modules, implemented in subsequent semesters according to the curriculum.
The exercises pursue various objectives: from distinguishing general texts from specialist texts, getting to know specialist terminology from selected thematic circles, broadening the range of specialist vocabulary, through improving linguistic skills in selected areas in A and C, to improving the process of translating specialist texts and creating terminology sheets. Students prepare for specialist translation and solve their terminological problems. If necessary, they prepare to cooperate with experts or a group of translators in the process of finding specialist terminology. Students also learn traditional and networked A and C language terminology resources, as well as terminology standards for the chosen field, including rules for compiling and evaluating them.
The range of topics is adapted to the module. As in the description "The Information about the Group".
The subject is assigned 2 ECTS points,
which means: 30 hours - attendance and work in class (1 ECTS) and15 hours - reading and analyzing specialist texts and 15 hours - preparing terminology papers.

Learning outcomes
After completing the course the student demonstrates the following skills:
(KNOWLEDGE) - the graduate knows and understands:
- the complex structure of the language as a system and its historical variability (K2_W01)

- main development directions and the most important scientific achievements in the field of linguistics (K2_W06)
- interrelationships of applied linguistics (in particular terminology) with other fields of science (K2_W09)
- major research centers in the field of terminology (K2_W10)
- in the extended scope the role of language in communication between people and cultures, as well as cultural differences being an important factor in shaping relationships in the modern world (K2_W11)
- in-depth socio-economic and legal realities in the areas related to the languages studied (K2_W12)
- key concepts used in the fields of knowledge that are the subject of study (terminology), i.e. the concept of text, specialist text, terminology base, terminology dictionary, as well as the structure of languages A and B; (S2.3_W01)
- main development trends in terminology (from traditional dictionaries to multilingual specialized terminology databases) (S2.3_W02)
- fundamental dilemmas of modern translation studies related to acting at the interface: a) different cultures (cultural differences, ethical and religious problems, diplomacy), b) fields of knowledge (specialized translation), c) representatives of various social layers (communication: layman - professional, professional-professional) (S2.3_W04)
- rules for the protection of intellectual property and copyright in relation to terminological activities (S2.3_W07)
- basic principles of the terminologist's activity on the contemporary labor market in Poland and in other countries (development opportunities, expectations of employers, professional organizations) (S2.3_W08)

(SKILLS) - the graduate can:
- to deeply identify characteristic cultural elements and properly interpret socio-historical changes taking place in relation to the realities of the studied language area (K2_U02)
- advanced search, analyze, evaluate and select information in the native language and foreign languages using the latest information and communication technologies (K2_U03)
- independently use advanced research tools in applied linguistics, including appropriately selected methods and tools to solve problems and create in-depth interpretations (K2_U04)
- communicate using different communication channels and techniques with specialists in linguistics and non-specialists in native and foreign language in typical and non-standard professional situations requiring knowledge of techniques, strategies and various communication channels, and is able to counteract conflicts by using language as a communication tool (K2_U05)
- use language C in speech and writing at level C2 of the European System of Description for Language Education (K2_U07)
- cooperate and work in a group, assuming various roles (including the role of a terminologist) (K2_U09)
- lead the group, assuming responsibility for the results of its work (K2_U10)
- independently acquire knowledge in the field of linguistics (terminology) and assess the usefulness of learned methods, practices and procedures in their own professional activity (K2_U11)

- formulate and solve complex and unusual terminological problems and perform tasks in an innovative manner in conditions not fully predictable by: - proper selection of sources and information derived from them, assessment, critical analysis and synthesis of this information, - selection and application of appropriate methods and tools, including advanced information and communication techniques (S2.3_U02)
- use possessed knowledge of terminology in order to make appropriate observation of the text and its analysis (S2.3_U03)
- formulate and solve problems and perform tasks typical of professional terminology activities related to the field of study (S2.3_U04)
- communicate on specialized topics with diverse audiences, conduct a debate on theoretical and practical aspects of terminology, use a foreign language in speech and writing at the level C2 of the European System for the Description of Language Training and specialized terminology (S2.3_U06)
- present the results of their observations and analyzes, as well as issue judgments in terms of terminology (S2.3_U07)
- manage the work of the team; cooperate with other people as part of team work and take a leading role in teams (S2.3_U08)
- translate the written or oral text into the languages
