Terminology A and B - Italian language, level 2 3200-M2-2TAB2W
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with terminology in A and B in a contrastive approach and to systematize terminology typical of the given domain in terms of the needs of future translators. Classes consist in practical analysis of Italian and Polish texts with a medium and high degree of terminology. Besides, they involve resolving various terminological tasks and exercises and are enriched with information on the differences between the native language and the target language at the terminological, lexical and semantic level.
Student workload for 30 hours - 2 ECTS:
- 30 hours - attendance (1 ECTS),
- 25 hours - preparation for classes and tests (1 ECTS).
Principles of cooperation:
1. Absences - two unjustified absences allowed in the term.
2. Unprepared - the student should be prepared for each class. A student may submit two unprepared forms in the term (eg not preparing translation tasks at home).
3. Consequences of exceeding the admissible limit of absence - if there are more than 2, including the justified, the student should ask the lecturer to determine the form of credit for the course material; more than 50% of absences are the basis for not crediting the subject.

Skills
The students are able to:
K2_U01 use the acquired knowledge to carry out research work in the field of linguistics using appropriate methodology
K2_U04 search, analyze, evaluate and select information in the native language and foreign languages PS7_UW.
K2_U07 communicate in the native and foreign language in various professional situations with specialists, using the
K2_U09 speak and write two foreign languages (B and C) at level C2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
K2_U11 independently acquire knowledge in linguistics and evaluate the usefulness of the learned methods, practices and procedures in their own professional activity
K2_U13 independently plan and implement their own education using knowledge of foreign languages
S2.3_U01 use their knowledge of linguistics (especially terminology and translation studies) in research and professional activities;
S2.3_U03 appropriately select sources and information and apply adequate methods and tools to solve complex terminological and translational tasks, and innovatively perform such tasks under conditions that are not fully predictable;
S2.3_U06 speak and write two foreign languages at the C2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and use specialized terminology from these languages;
S2.3_U07 independently plan and implement their own education with the use of knowledge of foreign languages and guide others in this field;
S2.3_U08 translate a written or oral text in A, B and C, translate a text from the source language to the target language, using terminology databases;
S2.3_U10 create terminology cards for terminology databases, and compile specialized glossaries in language A, B and C;

The students are ready to:

S2.3_K07 apply adequate, scientifically justified criteria for evaluating different terminological resources and different genres of translated texts;
S2.3_K08 constantly develop and improve the terminology and translation skills.
Assessment criteria
Methods of assessing the student's work to choose from:
· Continuous assessment (ongoing preparation for classes and performance of tasks during classes);
· Tests involving lexical and translation tasks covering the material discussed in the classroom;
· Semester work.
The grade for the course includes:
- 50% mid-term tests and continuous assessment, i.e. ongoing preparation for classes (translation tasks carried out at home, vocabulary learning),
- 50% mid-term and/or semester work: translation task.

85% -89% - 4+
80% -84% - 4
70% -79% - 3+
60% -69% - 3
Translation tasks of students are assessed on the basis of:
- the degree of mastery of lexical / grammatical material,
- the ability to create one’s own written statements.
