Terminology A and B - English language, level 2 3200-M2-2TAB2A

The course curriculum includes the development and improvement of language skills in A and B, i.e. distinguishing between general and specialist texts, learning specialist terminology from selected thematic circles, expanding the pool of specialist vocabulary in selected fields, improving the process of translating specialist texts and creating terminology sheets and sets. Students prepare for the work of a terminologist and support the process of specialist translation, as well as solve any terminological problems they encounter. Students are prepared to cooperate with experts or a group of translators in the process of finding specialist terminology. Students also learn about traditional and networked terminological resources concerning A and B, as well as terminological norms concerning a chosen field.

The range of topics is adapted to a given module. As in the description "Group information".

The subject is assigned 2 ECTS points, which means:
30 hours - attendance and work in class (1 ECTS) and
15 hours - reading and analyzing specialist texts and 15 hours - preparing terminology papers.

Prerequisites (description)

The student should know the language at least B2 level. The student should have the knowledge of the theory of specialist languages and terminology according to the programme of the 1st year of the 2nd degree studies. The student should have the ability to use selected terminology databases and other online tools necessary in the work of a terminologist. It is not required to participate in a course on similar subjects in year 1 of the 2nd degree.
