MA Seminar, Russian - level 1 3200-M2-0SEMR1
The seminar classes prepare students to write their master's thesis in the fields of literary studies, linguistics, or glottodidactics/translation studies, using materials related to the Russian language, literature, and/or culture. The objectives of the classes are as follows:
- to systematize and consolidate the student's knowledge in the studied field;
- to present research methodologies used within that field;
- to outline the principles of collecting, analyzing, and describing research materials within the field;
- to familiarize the student with the formal requirements of a master's thesis;
- to have the student present their master's thesis project (title, detailed outline);
- to have the student submit a bibliography appropriate to the researched topic;
- to have the student present at least half of the master's thesis (theoretical chapters).

Learning outcomes
Knowledge:
- has knowledge of information sources (dictionaries, electronic dictionaries, etc.) related to the studied language (e.g., K_W01; S_W01);
Skills:
- can search for, analyze, evaluate, and select texts in two specialized languages (K_U01; S_U11);
- can utilize fundamental theoretical frameworks and paradigms pertinent to the field of study (K_U04; S_U06);
- can work according to the goals and guidelines set by the academic supervisor (K_U03; S_U13);
- can correctly apply research methodology (e.g., K_U02; S_U02);
Social Competences:
- can identify priorities for completing tasks, can plan and execute specific tasks within set deadlines, and adheres to principles of professional ethics (e.g., K_K03; S_K03; S_K04);
- is prepared to independently deepen and update their knowledge and skills in the studied field (e.g., K_K04; S_K07; S_K08).
Assessment criteria
The basis for passing the course is:
- active participation in classes
- presentation of the progress of ongoing research
- submission of the theoretical part of the master's thesis
Bibliography
The selection of literature is dictated by the topics of the master's theses.
