MA Seminar, German - level 1 3200-M2-0SEMN1
As a rule, students begin this course already having a topic (which may only need some refinement) as well as a reliable structure. The work in this seminar builds on that foundation: the literature to be analysed is selected jointly, and the methodological approach is discussed as well.
Over the course of the seminar, the first sections of the thesis should be produced; these will be presented in class and discussed individually with the supervisor.
The course is designed to further prepare students for independent research by guiding and developing their academic interests in the topic of their master’s thesis.
Student`s workload:
30 hrs – classroom activities (1 ECTS)
180 hrs – reading and analyzing texts (6 ECTS)
90 hrs – preparing the presentation and a part of MA Thesis (1,5 ECTS)
FORMS OF WORK
If classroom learning is impossible, the workshop will be conducted with the help of distance communication tools, most probably Google Meet and others recommended by the University.

Socio-cultural competence: the graduate is prepared to

Assessment criteria
Credit (“zaliczenie”) at the end of the term, based on regualar attendance (max. 2 missed classes). Obligatory is also regular preparation for classes. In case of more than 2 missed classes during the semester additional work is arranged individually or they result in failure to complete the course. It is also required to write 30 pages on one of the discussed topics . Credit during the retake exam session will be held due to the same conditions as in the main session.

Didactic methods seeking: problem-based: problem solving, practice based on the use of various sources of knowledge, analysis of source texts, tasks, questions and answers, case analysis, projects,
Exposing teaching methods: preparing a presentation / paper;
Methods of work: group / pair classes / individual work, individual consultations, exercises, editing texts.
If it is not possible to conduct classes in a stationary form, classes will be held using distance communication tools, most likely Google Meet and other recommended by the University of Warsaw.
