Propaedeutic course for master seminar in literature, linguistics or teaching selected languages.
The course includes:
a) Theoretical part: -systematizing and consolidation of the selected field of knowledge;
-introduction to research methods applied in a selected field of knowledge;
-introduction to the rules of collection, analysis and description of research data within the selected domain.
-familiarizing students with formal requirements of M.A. thesis (layout, register, references).
b) Practical part:
-consolidation of research issues,
-collection of research data,
-presentation of detailed table of contents,
-collection of comprehensive references,
-editing chapters of M.A. thesis.
Term 2023:
The course is a continuation of the MA seminar offered in the summer semester in Year 1 of the MA programme. Its aim is assisting students in writing their MA dissertation, which is an extensive theoretical and empirical study in a selected subdiscipline of applied linguistics. The contents of the course evolve around practicing the skills of writing academic texts in a foreign language as well as of participating in oral academic communication. Students also develop proficiency in preparing and delivering academic presentations. Participants can improve their skills in applying quantitative and qualitative research methods in their empirical projects. They also have an opportunity to develop their skills in critically evaluating the literature in preparation for their thesis. |
