Teaching a professional language B/C - English 3200-M1-NJZA
During the course, students will learn the importance of foreign language competences as part of professional competences based on the example of content related to selected specialties or occupations. The course also includes issues related to the analysis of students' needs in the field of specialist or professional language, development of teaching content and syllabuses, planning classes and preparation of teaching materials in this area. Students will also learn self-study techniques related to language development in selected specializations and professions.

1. The curriculum for teaching a modern foreign language in the field of vocational training for selected professions.
2. Needs analysis in the field of a specialized foreign language
3. Analysis of language materials for teaching a foreign language in selected occupations.
4. Planning a specialist vocational language course
5. Strategies for creating language materials and exercises for teaching a foreign language in selected occupations in writing.
6. Strategies for creating language materials and exercises for teaching a foreign language in selected occupations in speech.
7. Assessing communication competences in a foreign language in the field of a specialist language.
8. Language exams for various professions - analysis of examples
9. Project as a method of improving students' communication competence in the field of specialist professional language.
10. The use of digital resources in teaching a foreign language in selected occupations.
11. Self-education strategies in the field of professional foreign language
12. Students with special educational needs in language education in selected professions.
Student workload:
Participation in classes 30 hours.
Preparation for classes 30 hours
Preparation of projects 25 hours
Total: 85 hours 3 ECTS
Format of work: presentations, workshops and individual work outside the classroom
If classroom learning is impossible, the classes will be conducted with the help of distance communication tools: Moodle and Google Meet.

• can independently prepare teaching materials for teaching professional language
• can promote student autonomy
• has knowledge about the most popular exams in the field of vocational language
Assessment criteria
Preparation of 3 projects in groups. The projects should contain individually prepared ESP materials for selected occupations. Presentation of one project in class.
