The subject “Conference interpreter's workshop” is designed to prepare students for effective and professional interpreting during conferences, seminars and other official events. During the course of the class, participants will gain practical skills in simultaneous and consecutive interpreting, learn techniques for working with a variety of materials, and learn the specifics of working in a dynamic conference environment. The classes include both practical exercises and case analysis, which will help develop the competencies necessary to function effectively as a conference interpreter.

Learning outcomes
The participant will be able to effectively prepare for conference interpreting by analyzing the materials and context of the event.
The participant will gain the ability to interpret in a variety of conference situations, maintaining accuracy and fluency of speech.
The participant will develop competency in time management during interpretation to meet the demands of live events.
The participant will know techniques for dealing with linguistic and technical difficulties during conference interpreting.
The participant will be able to evaluate his or her own work and make improvements to enhance the quality of translations.
Assessment criteria
Methods of evaluating the work of students:
- steady evaluation (activity), preparation for the lessons, homeworks
- final test: simultaneous and/ or consecutive interpreting

The final grade comprises:
- steady evaluation (activity) – 20%
- final test – 80%.
The overall result is established in accordance with the following scale:
51%-60% = 3
61%-70% = 3,5
71%-80% = 4
81%-90% = 4,5
91%-100% = 5
Absences:
Students are permitted two unexcused absences per term. If a student accumulates more than two (2) absences, including excused ones, they should ask the lecturer about the form of getting credit for the material from the classes when the student was absent, and then obtain such credit before the end of the semester. If a student accumulates more than 50% of absences, he/she is not eligible for credit in this course, pursuant to the Faculty Regulations.
