Contemporary lexicography 3200-M1-2WL
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the lexicographer's workshop and to prepare them to carry out lexicographic research.

- The notion of lexicography
- Dictionary types
- Typical features of specialized dictionaries
- Dictionary structures and dicitonary creation process
- Modern lexicographic research
Permissible number of absences: 2. In the case of more than two absences (including the justified absences), the lecturer determines the testing form.
The students are supposed to:
-actively participate in the classes (30h, 1 ECTS)
-prepare a glossary / a terminological database (30h, 1ECTS)
- read and discuss the indicated texts, prepare presentations devoted to lexicopraphic theory and practice and/or prepare to take the final test (60 h, 2 ECTS).

The students are able to:

K2_U07 communicate in native and foreign language in various professional situations with specialists, using it
K2_U11 independently acquire knowledge of linguistics and evaluate the usefulness of the learned methods, practices and procedures in their own professional activity
S2.3_U01 use their knowledge of linguistics (especially terminology and translation studies) in research and professional activities;
S2.3_U03 appropriately select sources and information and apply adequate methods and tools to solve complex terminological and translational tasks and innovatively perform such tasks under conditions that are not fully predictable;
S2.3_U04 formulate and test hypotheses and present the results of their observations and analyses, as well as make judgments in the field of linguistics (in particular, terminology and translation studies);
S2.3_U07 independently plan and implement their own education using linguistics and guide others in this field;
S2.3_U08 translate a written or oral text in A, B and C, translate a text from the source language to the target language, using terminology databases;
S2.3_U10 create terminology cards for terminology databases, and compile specialized glossaries in language A, B and C;
