Prerequisites (description)
The course involves developing and improving the translation competence in the field of translation or/and interpreting (Russian and Polish) of specialist texts of medium and advanced terminology, including:
- Knowledge of grammatical structures and lexical connectivity of a foreign language and Polish language; rules of formulating longer written statements in target languages, including official journals.
- Ability to use information concerning cultural aspects that characterise the source and target culture;
- Technical competence: making translations using technical resources.
Obligatory subject for first year students of the 2nd year of studies.
The language skills of students are at the C1+ level.
The course consists of a series of classes in translation and interpreting, which develop the efficiency of specialist text translation. The aim of the course is to present various translation strategies, techniques and methods used in the translation and interpreting of specialist texts from Polish into Russian.
