Specialised Translations (B/A) - Russian/ Polish 3200-L3-2TSPBR
The course will review the basic issues and problems related to specialized translation and the
translation industry, such as types of specialized translation, features of specialized languages, terminology and phraseology
specialized, translation quality and industry standards, and translation technologies. The course aims to develop the ability to
to critically analyze selected specialized texts translated into Polish (A) and from Polish into B by introducing
students with basic techniques and theories of specialized translation. Basic research directions will be presented,
both quantitative and qualitative, on specialized translation in relation to the context of translation and its reception, translators,
the process of translation, and the product (translation). A thorough analysis of the translation studies literature is aimed at awakening an awareness of the
methodological and workshop awareness in order to prepare students for independent scientific research on various types of
of specialized translation using qualitative and quantitative methods, and at the same time to show them methods of solving
translation problems.

Assessment criteria
1) Attendance and active participation in classes - the acceptable number of absences - 2 absences; in the case of a larger number of absences
absences, the lecturer determines the form of passing the course material in the form of a written or oral test
2) The prerequisite for passing the course is obtaining a positive grade from each component of the course.
