Bachelor of Arts Seminar - Russian 3200-L3-0SLR
The aim of the BA seminar is to familiarize students with the
research methodology appropriate to their research interests.
Students will become familiar with theoretical works that
form the basis of the methods and approaches to data analysis.
An active attitude on the part of the students is essential;
students should work systematically and independently
outside of class, searching for academic texts, reading them
and reviewing them synthetically in their BA thesis. It is
important that students should use their knowledge of the
theories they have learned as well as the knowledge
concerning the principles of conducting research and the
principles of writing a research paper. In addition, students
conduct their own research, which forms the basis for the
analytical part of their thesis.
Workload:
Contact hours (classes): 30 hours
Preparing to the classes: 30 hours
Self-study (conducting research and writing BA thesis): 300
hours
Total: 360 hours (12 ECTS)
If it is not possible to conduct classes in an in-class form,
classes will be held using distance communication tools
(Google Meet and other recommended by UW).

Skills
a student:
will gain elementary research skills, will be able to
formulate research problems and will be able to use the
research tools of applied linguistics (within the scope of
linguistics sub-disciplines corresponding to the chosen
module) and literary studies; is able to select appropriate
methods for solving problems in the selected field

will acquire the ability to argue with the views of other
authors and to formulate conclusions independently,
orally and in writing, in Polish and in two foreign
languages that they he/she has studied [K1_U04]
is able to communicate in two foreign languages in
typical professional situations requiring the knowledge of

communication channels, and is able to prevent conflicts
using language as a communication tool [K1_U05]
is able to apply theoretical knowledge from the fields of
study (applied linguistics and literary studies)
appropriately in typical professional situations, including
teamwork, also in interdisciplinary projects [K1_U10]
is able to independently acquire knowledge of applied
linguistics and literary studies, following the guidelines
of the tutor; is able to assess the usefulness of the
acquired methods, practices and procedures for his/her

Social competences
a student is ready to:

Assessment criteria
Detailed requirements ad methods of assessment are determined by specific course instructors teaching seminars in selected areas.
Bibliography
The choice of literature is adjusted individually to the specific topics of work.
